The check-engine light for your Mac

Your Mac, without the guesswork.

Vitals sits quietly in your menu bar. When your Mac runs hot, runs short on memory or disk, or drains its battery faster than normal, it tells you in plain English what's wrong and what to do — then gets out of the way.

Alerts

Silent until there’s something worth saying.

Vitals waits until a problem has lasted long enough to matter, then sends a normal Mac notification: what’s happening, why it matters, and what to do about it.

  • No false alarms. Pick Relaxed, Balanced or Sensitive. Short spikes are ignored.
  • Fix it from the notification. Snooze or Always ignore, right where the alert appears.
  • Never an ad. No notification ever tries to sell you Pro.

Free Up Space

Disk full? See exactly what to clear.

Free Up Space scans your home folder on your Mac and sorts what it finds into plain groups, biggest first. Every item is explained. Your own files are never pre-selected and nothing is deleted for you — what you pick goes to the Trash, where you can still put it back.

  • Scan free. See every gigabyte you could get back before paying anything.
  • Clear in one click with Pro. Or clear by hand in Finder — your call.
  • Space Map. A picture of what fills your home folder. Click any block to look inside.
  • Remove apps completely. Vitals finds the settings, caches and data an app leaves in your Library and clears them with it.
  • No scare tactics. No “junk detected!” banners, no subscription.

Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Battery features need a MacBook. Prices in USD; your App Store shows your local price.

Two editions

Get it from the App Store, or download the full version.

Same app, same price. The Mac App Store keeps apps in a sandbox, so that edition can’t look at or quit other apps. The direct download can — it’s signed with Apple’s Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

App Store or full version — which should I get?

If you just want to know when your Mac needs attention, the App Store edition is the simplest. Get the full version if you want Vitals to name and quit the app behind a problem, show per-app battery and data use, or hide menu-bar icons. Pro costs the same in both, and an App Store purchase includes a key for the full version.

Is the download safe?

Yes. The full version is signed with Apple’s Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS checks it before it opens. Drag Vitals to Applications and open it like any other app.

Does Vitals slow my Mac down or drain the battery itself?

No. It checks every few seconds and typically uses well under 1% CPU. Feel free to watch it in Activity Monitor.

Will it nag me?

Vitals only speaks up when a problem has lasted long enough to matter. Pick Relaxed, Balanced or Sensitive, snooze any alert, or tell it to always ignore one. And no notification ever advertises Pro.

What does Vitals send over the internet?

Nothing about you. There’s no account, no analytics and no tracking. The optional Ping reading times a connection to Apple’s captive.apple.com, and showing or activating a license key talks to our license server. Purchases go through Apple.

Why does it ask for my home folder?

Mac App Store apps can only look at folders you choose. Free Up Space asks once so it can find files you might want to clear. It scans on your Mac and only moves files to the Trash when you pick them.

How does the free trial work?

Start it in Settings › Pro. Everything is unlocked for 7 days, with no payment details needed. When it ends, Pro features lock again and the free features keep working. You’re never charged unless you buy Pro.

Is it really one payment?

Yes. $9.99 once unlocks every Pro feature. Use Restore Purchase on any Mac signed in to the same Apple Account.

Can I use my purchase outside the App Store?

Yes. Your Pro purchase includes one license key for the direct-download edition of Vitals. Open Settings › Pro › Show My License Key. Each key works on one Mac at a time — remove it from the old Mac to move it.

Which Macs are supported?

Any Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel. Battery features need a MacBook.

Let your Mac tell you what’s wrong.

Free on the Mac App Store or as a direct download. Pro is $9.99 once, with a 7-day free trial.
